Here at Taylor Wellness Chiropractic Clinics,  we love our patients and want to educate everyone who has questions about chiropractic care.  Here is a list of the most frequently asked questions by our patients, in no particular order. Hopefully, you can find your answers in this blog, but don’t hesitate to contact us if you have further questions. Read on to learn more!

1- What does the word chiropractic mean anyway?

According to the Ontario Chiropractic Association, “chiropractic” means “done by hand”. Chiropractors are doctors with a specialization of the spine. Adjustments free up the joint to restore proper movement and optimize function. The adjustment involves applying a precise force to a joint that is troublesome to help relieve the pain and restore normal functioning of the spine, joints and overall structure of the body. Using this technique, Chiropractors can treat any joint of the body and find a way to make sure that you feel comfortable. Going to see a chiropractor can feel quite relaxing and give you more range of motion. Here at Taylor Wellness we don’t complete manual adjustments, check out more information about our Activator Chiropractor Technique!

2- Is seeing a chiropractor safe?

Chiropractic care is widely recognized as one of the safest, drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for treatment of body discomfort. The risks associated with chiropractic are very small, they include mild soreness, stiffness or aching, symptoms that you would usually feel after going to the gym.

3- When should I see a chiropractor?

You can see a chiropractor if you’re experiencing any kind of discomfort from your head to your toes!  Many people just visit a chiropractor if they have neck or back pain but your chiropractor can help you with so much more than that. If you have pregnancy pain, digestive issues, headaches, or high blood pressure, chiropractic care may be your answer. If you have a pinched nerve, your chiropractor can help you with a perfect treatment plan. If you’re unsure if seeing a chiropractor is the right answer for you, contact us and we will let you know!

4- Do I need a medical referral?

No. According to the Ontario Chiropractic Association, patients can consult their chiropractors directly. However, chiropractors often work closely with medical doctors, many of whom refer to chiropractors when they believe chiropractic treatment will help alleviate a patient’s condition. Similarly, chiropractors frequently refer to medical doctors when necessary.

5- Do I need to go to the Chiropractor forever?

No, you do not, but it’s always good to keep a relationship with your chiropractor and visit a few times a year.  Remember, it is entirely up to you to decide how long you see your chiropractor for and if you continue your treatment plan. Some patients only come to see me when they feel pain, others come on a regular basis.

6- Can children visit the chiropractor?

The question if it’s safe for children to receive chiropractor care is a common question and the answer is, yes! There are so many pediatric conditions that studies have shown to improve with chiropractic care. Contact us with any questions you may have about children and the benefits of chiropractic care!
